DISPLAY

Assembly of random items from stuff lying around in the house and few from a neighborhood thrift store. The dried stems in the vase have been 'hand picked' from the wild plantation growth at the side walks of my city:) The dried stems were then cleaned and spray painted (of course that made quite a mess). The paint is simply wall color. Putting all this together was an evolving process. I took my time to arrange them. The wooden-hollow frames were included to add dimension and height to the display. And also all the vases are different in size and shapes, so this helped to create some uniformity from the nonuniform. Plus each vase got their very own-well deserved spot!~!

I like such art forms where display and arrangement changes the look. This sort of design can be dynamic. One can play around to change it after a while to add variety.

बाघ बानी

For past couple of months I have been trying my hand on gardening.
I always shied away from taking responsibility of any sort for a living being.
This is my first effort.
Now I regularly volunteer at the San Francisco botanical garden: plant nursery and also at the Children farm. Supposedly one of the top 10-15 gardens in the USA. Of course Californian weather has a very allows different types, species and varieties of plants to propagate and flourish.

It's a great experience, unlike something I have done before. When I work with plants I forget about the rest of the world. I immerse myself with all green and fresh jungle around me...try to breathe in as much fresh air I can.

Now I have grown some plants on my patio, in the backyard. Though landlord maintains a beautiful garden but I have tried to do my bit. I painted some old clay pots , did some designing on them and made my own little garden!!

A science in it's own and I am a pure novice.
Heads off to all the passionate gardeners, tissue agriculturists, botanists, horticulturist and plants lovers. Good luck for all the hard work. It is pleasure to work & learn from them.

Quotes which sit on my desk :

This is an Irish blessing

May there always be work for you hands to do, may your purse always hold a coin or two,.
May the sun always shine on your windowpane.
may a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you,
may god fill you heart with gladness to cheer you.

Another one is given to me by my mom , who applies these pretty successfully in her daily life, come what may). And don't ask me...what I do. Perhaps writing it down..will remind me to practice at least couple of them:)

Here it goes, called "Success in Nutshell"

Be courteous to everyone
A pleasant smile accomplished wonders
Acknowledge all introduction cordially
Shun idle gossip never meddle in personal affairs
Extend heart hand-shake. Memorize the name of every one you meet.
Look people in the eye when conversing.
Talk with calm assurance do not raise your voice
Be a good listener respect other view points
Avoid arguments keep cool even if provoked.
When you are in the wrong, admit it promptly, frankly
Be open-minded, tolerant, considerate
Co-operate readily , cheerfully
Be a booster, praise generously, criticize tactfully
Show that you appreciate all favors big or little
Say thanks you expressively, not just politely
Be sympathetic but never complain or seek sympathy
Always be punctual, keep no one waiting
Make you words respected by keeping all promises
Be fair and square loyal and sincere
Take pride in your work and appearance
Do you best to day and every day
Radiate friendliness, enthusiasm , good will.

Tilepainting

I found these white tiles in a garage sale and decided to use it for my art venting.
With bulk acrylic wall paint and tubes of watercolors, I mixed these two to create various shades to cover the white tiles in different backgrounds. After letting them dry for some days , I painted on them. Used the brushes for slight texture.Leaves and flowers as a theme. I sought the inspiration from my latest volunteer work at the Botanical garden of San Francisco! It is all so beautiful and so very fresh out there. I think I will display them in the kitchen and bring that freshness inside my home:)

Poem I read today from a compilation of selected poem "Poets 11'

Lie No. 42
Traditional exit

You have left
The screen door open.
The air abuzz.
Everything being.
Unhinged
In the holes.
I find you have left me.
A small note.
So small. Like that.
Your small way.
Like different pollens flying around now.
Everything is packed.
In a neat way.
The way movers do it.
They have piled the boxes up high.
Carry them out on their back.
Like army ants.
The way they move,
The whole colony from one tree to another.
Perhaps.
That's what hell does.
To me.
